Adjust the positions of the upper supports on the basis of your height, according to the table included with the equipment and reproduced in the manual (this adjustment, important for reducing pressure on the popliteal cavity [back of the knee] during exercise, is found on the Professional models, product codes 3390, 3487.
The support column must be fully lowered (check by pressing the ‘DOWN’ button before positioning your legs).
The Wellness version includes a sliding bed to facilitate manoeuvring before and after exercising. Before use, slide the bed out and follow the instructions below:
Sit at the end of the bed (the mat in the Home Professional model) and lie down with your head on the flat cushion.
From the PSOAS position, with your knees bent, rest the backs of the knees (popliteal cavity) on the front supports and insert your ankles underneath the rear supports.
Press the ‘UP’ button on the remote to (electrically) lift the support: your pelvis will begin to lift.
The upper support holds the ankles in position to prevent the legs from slipping backward.
In the correct position, the pelvis is close to the mobile support and about 4-5 cm above the bed or mat; the thighs are perpendicular to the horizontal surface and the calves are at a 90° angle with respect to the thighs.
A back lift of just a few centimetres (4-5 cm, a handbreadth) is sufficient to fully benefit from the Myback® ‘no-load’ position.
During exercise:
We recommend remaining in the ‘no-load’ position (with the pelvis suspended) for 8 to 10 minutes or as long as no discomfort is felt. This type of exercise may be repeated in different types of series as explained in the working programme below:
2 minutes with the pelvis lifted and in the absence of muscle contraction, followed by 30 seconds’ rest with the supports lowered. Repeat 3 times.
6-8 minutes with the pelvis lifted and in the absence of muscle contraction, while performing 10 thoracic breathing cycles and 10 abdominal breathing cycles.
Slow, slight oscillations of the lifted pelvis back and forth from left to right, for 2 minutes.
After exercising:
At the end of your exercise cycle with Myback®:
Press the ‘DOWN’ button to fully lower the electrically-operated support column. As the support is lowering, exert a slight pressure on the supports with the backs of the knees and slide backward (in the Wellness version, this movement is facilitated by the sliding bed).
We recommend remaining in this position for at least 1 minute before getting up.
Warnings/Contraindications:
After a few minutes of suspension, you may feel numbness in the popliteal cavity and tingling in the feet. These sensations will disappear a few seconds after conclusion of the exercise.
If you feel numbness or tingling, we recommend performing the exercises at 2-minute intervals with 30-second pauses between series, repeating the cycle 3-4 times. Performing the exercise at 2-minute intervals attenuates any discomfort in the popliteal area. Do not use Myback® if you are fitted with hip or knee prostheses, after cruciate ligament surgery and post-operatively in general.
